Full details coming soon! We’re planning two performances/workshops for children and another for parents/grandparents who want to improve their storytelling skills – all of this at the Forest Hill Methodist Church in Normanton Street, followed by fruit, tea and cake. Then, in the evening, there’ll be another special performance upstairs at the Blythe Hill Tavern…
Here are some highlights from the ‘Wondertales by Candlelight’ performance on Saturday 2 February. Michael and Wendy Dacres created a unique atmosphere and beautiful imagery which really captured everyone’s imagination.
Thank you very much to Matt from Blue Sky Junction Photography for the photos.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped out with our last event on the 2 February. It was a success, with a captivating candlelit show at the Forest Hill Methodist church by Raventales, and for younger siblings a story and a fun balloon workshop. This was followed by tea and delicious cakes.
The evening performance of ‘Gawain and the Green Man’ at the welcoming Blythe Hill Tavern was a sell-out! There is obviously an appetite for storytelling in Forest Hill.
Particular thanks go to Judith Barrett, Jessica Ormerod, Leda Consentino, Jane Toussaint, Chris Wise, Brenda Onatade, Raliat Onatade and Jacq Pascoud for all their hard work organising the event.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the storytelling day on the 6 October. It was our first event, so slightly nerve-wracking, but the day was a success with a sell-out family performance by Tuup; fantastic workshops by Jimmy, Randolph and Jacq; delicious cakes by Nicky; a delicious meal by Jerk Kitchen, and a magical evening performance by Tuup accompanied by Jojo and Jimmy.
It was wonderful to see small children enthralled by Tuup telling the stories of the Little Crocodile and the Snake King. We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed it too.
We’ve been assessing feedback received, which is informing our planning for our future events. If you would like to give us feedback (good and bad!) or have any ideas for our events do get in touch on firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a community group we are always looking for more volunteers, so if you would like to get involved please get in touch – we’d love to meet you.
Latest news – the 4pm Family Performance by Tuup has now sold out. We are sorry, it was very popular. Watch this space for more events in the future!
